CFOs, Finance Managers, Heads of Controlling

CFO Top is an annual event held in November. The programme is built around a central question: “How are CFOs future-proofing their function, and what contribution does the finance function make to future-proofing the organisation?”

Relevant testimonials from CFOs take centre stage. Experts and academics deepen the topics further, and we close with a keynote that offers a ‘helicopter perspective’.

CFO Top is a dynamic mix of keynotes and workshops, bringing together more than 100 finance leaders each year: CFOs, finance managers, heads of controlling, heads of accounting & consolidation.

We maintain a strict participation policy: only registrations matching the desired profile are accepted. The presence of commercial profiles and consultants is reserved exclusively for our partners. Ample space is provided for informal networking.

Partnership

Partnership opportunities

Every partnership is tailor-made, with the aim of delivering an optimal return for each partner. The collaboration is flexible and can be aligned with specific needs and objectives.

1
Branding

The partner gains visibility in all communications around CFO Top:

  • Logo inclusion in CFO Magazine advertisements
  • Announcements in CFO Ezine
  • Personalised direct mail & social media campaigns
  • Digital visibility on the website (1 October – 20 November 2026)
  • Visibility at the event itself (digital, pop-ups and branded items)
2
Lead generation

We create opportunities to build valuable connections on multiple levels:

  • Relationship management: exclusively invite 20 clients for complimentary attendance and position yourself as an engaged partner.
  • Targeted outreach: submit a wishlist of organisations or individuals you wish to meet. Financial Media deploys targeted communications to engage these parties.
3

Seminar — Finance & AI

AI Ambition Seminar

AI Ambition Seminar - Playtime is over
AI Ambition Seminar — 29 October 2026
Playtime is over
From experiment to governance

Two years ago, AI in finance was a playground: a chatbot here, a small experiment there, “we’re just exploring what it can do.” Fun, casual and with no major consequences if things went wrong.

That phase is over. Today, someone in your organisation is already running numbers through an AI tool you don’t know, with data you don’t control, for decisions you are still accountable for. Shadow AI is not a future risk — it is happening now.

At the same time, every CFO faces a business case that rarely gets discussed openly: build in-house, or wait for the ERP or software vendor to release a new feature? Pay per licence, or per consumption — and what does that mean for budget discipline and forecasting?

This seminar is not about technology hype. It gives CFOs and controllers the framework to take control: governance, roles, costs, skills, and the uncomfortable question of what happens to junior staff when agents take over entry-level work.

For sustainability managers too, this is not a side issue. ESG reporting increasingly relies on data from dozens of sources. Anyone who takes ESG reporting seriously cannot afford shadow AI on precisely the figures that will be externally audited.

In this seminar, participants actively work with AI themselves and build their own agent on a fictional dataset. AI is not only for large companies — we also address the specific challenges facing SMEs.

Learning objectives

What will you take home?

▪ Understand how AI and agents work, without technical complexity — enough to make strategic decisions about them.
▪ Set up a minimum governance structure: roles, rights, final accountability and control over shadow AI.
▪ Build the business case between building in-house and waiting for the software vendor.
▪ Understand the cost model: from licence to pay-per-consumption, and the role of controlling and AI in data quality.
▪ Gain insight into the impact on the role of CFO, controller, sustainability manager and the development of junior staff.
▪ Build and test a simple finance agent on a fictional dataset. Learn to critically evaluate AI output.

Financial management is a multifaceted discipline that goes far beyond numbers and data alone. In an increasingly complex world, it is not only about optimal processes, AI implementation and state-of-the-art IT. The difference is made by people who work as a cohesive team to bring the strategy and ambitions of the organisation to life.

It is the people — not the figures — who make professional and efficient financial management possible. The Best Finance Team of the Year award therefore puts not the individual, but the entire team in the spotlight.

We celebrate the collective efforts and craftsmanship of the CFO and their team: a well-deserved recognition for professionals who contribute to the success of their organisation in perfect harmony.

The Best Finance Team of the Year award event is the first and largest CFO networking event in the country. A partnership and presence at the event is a must for every organisation that supports the development of the finance function.

Part 1

Bootcamp

Bootcamp for young finance professionals in partnership with a host company: 3 intensive days of workshops and learning moments with practical testimonials, experts and academics.

The content challenges of the host company's finance team form the backbone of the programme. Participants work in small groups on these cases and can draw on expert, academic and practical contributions throughout the three days. The host company's finance team provides continuous input and feedback, and a team of mentors guides participants through the challenges.

Of course, there are also various networking moments and social evening activities throughout.

BYFT is also a competition. Groups present their solution to the jury, which selects the team with the best solutions as the winner of the Best Young Finance Team.
Part 2

Award ceremony & Networking event

After all participants have faced the jury for the various cases, the CFO and colleagues join and the event is also open to external guests.

We organise a dynamic networking event built around an inspiring keynote — putting the participants in general, and the winners in particular, firmly in the spotlight.

The winners are celebrated following the jury meeting.

Women in Finance

Women in Finance
2 sessions: spring — autumn
A platform for female leadership in finance
Is it still necessary in 2027? Yes. And here is why.
A platform for female leadership in finance

Is it still necessary in 2026/2027? Yes. And here is why.

About finance and leadership, not about being a woman. The events focus primarily on finance and leadership. We draw our inspiration and examples exclusively from companies and organisations where a woman is in charge. Women in Finance is first and foremost about giving women a platform. And yes, that predominantly attracts women — and apparently discourages men from attending.

But there is more. Even in 2026, women in financial leadership positions remain underrepresented. The balance may be improving within finance teams themselves, but this has yet to translate into progression to the top. The figures speak for themselves.

⚠ Financial Media Research — BEL20 & BEL ESG

The figures that justify this event

These are alarming figures. Women remain structurally underrepresented in the finance leadership of Belgian listed companies.

15%
of BEL20 CFOs are women
19%
of the 154 BEL20 executive committee members are women
12%
of the 216 BEL ESG executive committee members are women
2/20
BEL20 companies have at least 40% women on their executive committee
0
Multiple BEL20 companies have no women at all on their executive committee
The format

Hosted by a female finance leader

We visit a company or organisation where a woman leads the finance function. But the programme is decidedly about “hard finance” — we build a compelling programme around that. In addition to the practitioner testimonial, this may include an external speaker with a different perspective, a round table or a peer exchange session.

Each session begins with an informal lunch at a nearby restaurant and concludes with drinks and bites after the content programme and company visit.
